Season 26 HOF nominees

Here’s my take on this season’s HOF nominees. Lots of 500 HR hitters on this list!   Amazing. Some good controversy this year as well. No Doubt Pablo Vincente – A 1B who stands out of the crowd! He hit .305/.393/.603 (.996). 667 HR (7 th all-time), 1927 RBI (5 th all-time) 1591 R (11 th all-time) – certainly one of the top 10 offensive players in the league.   Won an MVP, went to 6 all-star games, and won 2 silver sluggers.   Combines the great peak with excellent longevity, and gets my nod. Trenidad Espinosa – Finally some of the excellent pitchers Capra has to offer are retiring. Espinoza went 212-126 (.627) with a 3.43 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP. He pitched over 3100 innings and won a CYA, almost exclusively in the AL. Kelly Grace – Maybe one tiny notch behind Espinoza, Grace went 213-143 (.598). He won a CYA, went to 6 AS games, and finished with a 1.22 WHIP and a 3.52 ERA, half in the NL, half in the AL.   Now look around this list and see how many people hit ove

Don Wilson's Career RC27 is #40!

As part of the S26 HoF discussions, one of the point of interest is the offensive contribution of Don Wilson . To help, here's Don Wilson 's career RC27 ranking (amidst everyone else).  Minimum 3000 at bats.  Using the Stolen Base version of the RC27 formula in Wikipedia + --------- + -------------------- + --------- + | rank      | name                 | ca reer rc27      + --------- + -------------------- + --------- + | 1         | Bruce Harper         | 10.965    | | 2         | Kip White            | 10.659    | | 3         | Henry Menechino      | 10.394    | | 4         | Jimmie Franco        | 10.146    | | 5         | Darren Owens         | 9.928     | | 6         | T.J. Don Wilson's Career AVGPLUS is #9!

Same methodology as SLGPLUS, only for batting average instead.  Where does Don Wilson wind up? Again, minimum 3000 at bats.  AVGPLUS adjusts for era, but not for ballpark. + --------------------- + -------- + ------------- +   |                       | care er    | career        | | NAME                  | avg      | AVGPLUS       | + --------------------- + -------- + ------------- + | Bruce Harper          | 0.3403   | 150           | | Jeromy Wagner         | 0.3405   | 146           | | Walt Cashman          | 0.3393   | 144           | | Peter Mitchell        | 0.3366   | 143           | | Hal Randall           | 0.3356   | 142           | | Jimmie Franco         | 0.3264   | 142           | | Johnnie Shields       | 0.3170   | 141           | | T.J. Best Career Adjusted Slugging

Best Career Adjusted Slugging, minimum 3000 at bats.  Read the previous posts for the details. By the way, Hub Kaye's Career SLGPLUS is 221. + --------------------- + -------- + ------------- + | NAME                  | CAREER   | CAREER        | |                       | SLG      | SLGPLUS       | + --------------------- + -------- + ------------- + | Bruce Harper          | 0.6361   | 197           | | Javier Leon           | 0.6227   | 196           | | Darren Owens          | 0.6305   | 193           | | Henry Menechino       | 0.6437   | 191           | | Jimmie Franco         | 0.6093   | 187           | | Rolando Pena          | 0.5740   | 180           | | Pablo Vincente        | 0.6033   | 180           | | Rogers Glynn          | 0.6081   | 179           | | Alex Valdes           | 0.5802   | 179           | | Ralph Daniels         | 0.5777   | 177           | | Harry Cruz            | 0.5689   | 177           | | Bosco Gleason         | 0.5618   | 175           | |

Best Adjusted Slugging Seasons Ever

The 100 Best Adjusted Slugging Seasons Ever.  The value SLGPLUS is corrected by season.  Basically it is the number of standard deviations better than the average slugging percentage of that seasons (and then times 100 and plus 100).  Minimum 502 at bats. A SLGPLUS of 100 would have been an "average" slugging performance.  Note that these are not adjusted for ballpark.  That would be cool, but how? + ----------- + --------------------- + --------- + -------- + ---------------- + ------------ + | season      | NAME                  | FRANCHISE | SLG      | AVERAGE SLG      | SLGPLUS      | + ----------- + --------------------- + --------- + -------- + ---------------- + ------------ + | 2           | Henry Menechino       | SYR       | 0.8369   | 0.4631           | 280          | | 25          | Hub Kaye              | NOR       | 0.7259   | 0.4087           | 274          | | 3           | Henry Menechino       | SYR       | 0.7633   | 0.4262           | 270
